LIMMUD’S ‘BIGGER BETTER WEEKEND AWAY’ CONFERENCE IS COMING- 19-21 AUGUST

If you cant beat ‘em, join ‘em. Limmud SA Johannesburg’s annual conference has grown from year to year and Limmud has outgrown it’s venues. In planning this year’s conference, we looked at Limmud conference models across the world and looked at the Cape Town model and have decided to go residential. This is the finest conference model and we are sure that this will take Limmud SA Joburg experience to a new level.

We will be having our first ever residential conference at the Southern Sun International Riverside Resort on the banks of the Vaal River.

What is a Residential Conference?

Starting on Friday afternoon, going through Shabbat and culminating with a packed Sunday schedule, you will be able to go to sessions from early in the morning to late at night. You will not have to rush. Limmud will be there, for you, day and night, for a whole weekend!

What is the Hotel Accommodation Like?

The hotel was recently refurbished. Every room is private and has its own bathroom. There are suites, family rooms, twin-bedded and double-bedded rooms. The setting of the hotel is unrivalled. Overlooking the Vaal River, with rolling lawns, access to the river, this hotel is the perfect place for a Limmud experience.

The hotel is geared for conferences and will be ideal for Limmud’s non-stop parallel-session format.

What about the Kids

Gabi Altimirano and Mia Candy will be running Young Limmud. The hotel’s River Rascals Kids Club will also be open for the weekend. Their staff will be working with Young Limmud to make sure that our residential conference is a fully fledged family experience for children of all ages.

What will it cost?

Please note that each place at Limmud is subsidized by at least 40%.  If you register before Sunday 12 June, you can take advantage of the early bird specials

What about the programme?

Limmud offers real choice at our Conference. We design the programme so that there will be something for everyone, from the cerebral to the creative, from song and dance to spirituality, from the Middle East to midrash, from outdoor to in-depth. Every time slot will have up to 8 different choices, where each delegate will be free to go where they please.

What about Saturday night?

We schedule normal sessions late into the night, but on top of that, we will be having live music and theatre performances on the Saturday night. We will also ensure that there will be a wine tasting, a concert with Michelle Citrin, movies, a quiz and other games.

Getting there?

The hotel is an hour away from Johannesburg. You can drive there and park your car in safe, secure parking for the weekend, or we can arrange a lift for you with someone who will be coming from your neck of the woods.

What will I eat?

The food is Kosher and supervised under the auspices of the Beth Din. Catering will be expertly done byGoldies from Cape Town. They are also responsible for Limmud Cape Town and have good experience of covering an event like Limmud.

There will also be vegetarian and vegan options.
